This is big - so you'll get some SERIOUS points my friends!
OK, so we discussed in class that the Supreme Court decision of Worcester v. Georgia stated that the Cherokee Nation fell under the protection of federal law. So, can someone explain to me why President Jackson can remove them from their land if they fall under protection of the US Constitution - Trail of Tears? Aren't the Judicial and Executive branches supposed to balance each other out?
Extra credit assignment:
Research the legislation (laws) that explain the Supreme Court's decision about American Indians and Andrew Jackson's actions, and how they relate to one another. Please state the names and descriptions of any laws you mention in your paper. Be sure to cite your sources!!
Your answer will need to be typed and turned in to me no later than the end of the day on Tuesday, March 5th.
